Srinager,March 28:- The man who kept the flag of Radio broadcasting Doordarshan telecasting flying during the peak period of militancy in the Kashmir valley has become a victim of political vendetta. He is none other but Bashir Ahmed Malik,News Editor Doordarshan,Srinagar.

His colleagues suspect hand of politicians,sharing power with the Congress in the state,for managing orders for relieving Mr Malik with immediate effect from Doordarshan.They say he was made a scapegoat when the PDP Chief,Ms Mehbooba Mufti,alleged that the radio and Doordarshan were biased against her party and were not giving adequate coverage to the party activities.

Malik’s colleagues believe that PDP chief is said to have reported the matter to Delhi.When Delhi tried to find out the truth figures on the record belied Ms Mehbooba’s claim of bias against her party.The Deputy Director News in Radio Srinagar had stated that during the last 20 days PDP news items were used 452 times.

Similary the coverage on Doordarshan news bulletins also did not indicate any bias against the PDP.

Malik’s colleagues call transfer of Malik as sheer political interference in professional work.They recall that Malik had received appreciation from the Prime Minister for his work and dedication..They said that it was unfortunate that Delhi took cognizance of a complaint,least genuine,from PDP Chief.They said such an incident would demoralize the entire news staff in Doordarshan and Radio.
